Debbie Dore

Debbie is an experienced Stott Certified Pilates Instructor, qualified in teaching on all Pilates apparatus and matwork.
I have over 25 years experience in the fitness industry, working as a personal trainer and
managing a large corporate facility with a team of trainers. I trained as a STOTT PILATES® teacher, qualifying in 2008. I work with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds from those recently recovered from injury, to those challenged with conditions such as hypermobility and sacroiliac dysfunction.

Debbie is a fantastic Pilates teacher. I first started working with Debbie 1:1 after a slipped disc, she slowly and safely got me moving again, to the point I’ve been able to return to playing hockey and can move better than I think I’ve ever been able to! Having never tried Pilates before my back issues, it really can be transformative and Debbie has been an amazing partner in my recovery, I’ve recently joined her online zoom classes and I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

– Sarah McKay, Client

Debbie is an amazing teacher with a huge amount of Pilates knowledge. Her sessions are always different & she encourages you to challenge yourself so you never grow tired of Pilates. I have learnt so much and my technique has improved greatly in the last 5 years I have been attending Debbie’s Pilates classes.

– Rachel Fish, Client

I’ve been attending Debbie’s classes for over 5 years. Debbie is very knowledgeable and pays particular emphasis on explaining how the various techniques can be of benefit to all. She makes an effort to vary the exercises and keep things interesting and fresh. She has a good memory recalling our individual issues or needs, to make sure we achieve maximum benefit . In the current climate it is a pleasure to come along and exercise, whilst feeling secure all protocols are observed,!

Thea Clark, Client

Brilliant pilates classes. Debbie is a very good teacher and we are a very friendly group.

About

dh Pilates

Providing 121 tuition and classes to improve your
lifestyle

Pilates is not just about rehabilitation: it is also for the regular individual who is seeking a form of exercise that is gentle, whilst improving muscular strength and endurance without putting undue stress on the joints. Similarly, if you are looking for challenge in your Pilates workout that can also be offered!

I focus on posture and how the body moves with the goal of enabling my clients to develop healthy balanced bodies that function to cope with the activities of daily living, without pain or stress. This is facilitated by retraining the body in safer and more efficient patterns of movement which ultimately result in a more balanced and conditioned body.

A body that is stronger and more mobile is less liable to be injured.

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young”

Joseph Pilates

“In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty you will see the difference and in thirty you’ll have a whole new body”

“The Pilates method of body conditioning develops the body uniformly, corrects posture, restores vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit”

The Pilates reformer provides a workout that focuses on the movement of the body around a stable core using resistance.

The Tower gives versatility and allows the teacher to adapt exercises and develop a bespoke exercise prescription for each individual. The bars and springs attached to the upright frame give me the ability to develop and strengthen your body in a holistic and balanced manner.

I run a monthly system, rather than a termly. You can sign up for just one month and can cancel at any time. To decide which monthly price package would be the best one for you to join, click on the highlighted link to find out the options available.

Whichever option you choose, you will have free access to ALL of the recorded classes in the Pilates Exercise Library members area so you can take part in as many sessions as you want over the month. Plus if you choose the ‘face to face’ class option and you can’t make it you can always join the Thursday zoom class! Payment can be made via the website. All memberships renew on the 1st of the month. Your monthly fee can be paid every month from your account, by standing order, on the same date, until you email us to terminate your membership.

Descriptions

Absolute Beginners Class

This is an entry level class for those who have no experience of Pilates.

Emphasis is placed on conveying the basic principles, breathing, pelvic & rib cage placement, shoulder mobility & stabilisation and finally neck and head placement. Often clients who attend this class have not moved for a while so I also focus on improving mobility and achieving a fuller range of movement around the joints. Of course, core stabilisation is a primary area of attention in order to promote better back health and support for the activities of daily living.

This class is offered on Tuesday mornings at 8.20am at the Cobham Curve.

Beginners /Mixed-Ability

Participants of this class have usually had some knowledge of Pilates and are familiar with the mat work repertoire.

I offer variations on the exercises in order that you can choose the level of challenge that is appropriate for you. Also, I often use small equipment such as flexballs and toning balls to provide variety and keep regular attendees on their toes! Therefore each client experiences a class that is helping to improve their core strength, whilst engaging their interest and attention throughout.

This class is offered on Tuesday mornings at 9.45am at the Cobham Curve and Online via Zoom on Thursdays at 9.45am.

Intermediate Pilates

At this level clients have a good understanding of the repertoire and are able to perform intermediate level exercises with good technique.

The class pace is a little quicker, in order to provide a more challenging workout whilst still paying close attention to adhering to basic principles. Some of the more complex exercises are broken down and rebuilt in order to promote understanding and better performance. Bring your ‘A’ game!

This class is offered on Tuesday mornings at 11am at the Cobham Curve and Online via Zoom on Thursdays at 11.15am.

Seniors Gentle Pilates

It is important to find a class that is appropriate to your level of need. Often if you have musculoskeletal issues or conditions such as osteopenia or osteoporosis a more general Pilates class will not be suitable.

This class is ‘flexion free’, so is great for those who have more specific need and want to try gentle movement with a more careful considered approach.

This class is offered on Tuesdays at 12.10pm at the Cobham Curve.
